Every year thousands of school children suffer personal injury whilst at school due to avoidable negligence. Some of the most common injuries that are associated with school accidents happen as a result of slips, trips or falls in the school grounds, defective classroom equipment such as chairs, desks and play time equipment found in the school playground. Children can also be injured due to incidents such as being exposed to asbestos within the school grounds that leads to asbestos related illness as well as being made to carry heavy objects without correct training or the right sort of equipment.
School accidents can also happen while sporting activities are being undertaken. Defective sports equipment or incorrect safety equipment could lead to serious personal injury should as head trauma or spinal cord damage. Then on top of this your child could end up suffering a form of food poisoning after consuming food from the school canteen.
Any of the above could have a serious affect on your child’s well being, causing them to suffer serious personal injury as a result of it. This personal injury could be anything from lacerations, fractured/broken bones and strain injuries through to major head and neck trauma, limb disorders or spinal cord damage. There are also certain aspects of personal injury that requires you to report them to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), these include:
- Fractures anywhere other than fingers and toes
- Amputation
