Whiplash
The most common injury from a road traffic accident is whiplash. Whiplash is caused by the body being thrown forward very quickly and then thrown backwards. Most car drivers will have experienced another car ramming into the back of your own car. It is quite common to be sat at traffic lights and then feel a shunt and realize the car from behind failed to stop. If it was a small shunt you will not be thrown forward too violently, but if the car was going a bit faster the impact will throw your whole body forward. This can caused a head/neck injury called whiplash.
There are different degrees of whiplash, some more severe that others. Regardless of how severe the injury is, if you suffered in any way as a result of the injury then you should file a claim for compensation. You didn't ask for the injury, you didn't ask for the pain and suffering, it was an accident beyond your control. This is why you have a legal right to sue for damages.
Some of the symptoms include:
- neck pain or stiffness
- pain between the shoulder blades
- pain in arms or legs feet and hands
- headache
- low back pain
- nausea
- ringing in ears
- vertigo
- numbness and tingling
- dizziness or balance problems
- difficulty swallowing
- blurred vision
Personal injury claims are now available for anyone of any background or income status. You can sign a "no win no fee" agreement which means you are allowing your lawyer or solicitor to work for nothing. Your legal fees will be paid for at the end of the claim. If you win your whiplash claim the losing party will have to pay for any expenses, legal fees. If however you lose your claim you can claim back the legal fees and expenses with "after the event" insurance.
